New Nepali Social Awareness Video

The Women Entrepreneurship Development Sub-Committee under the Parliament's Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee has recommended establishment of Women Art Village to facilitate and promote women's craft.
At a meeting of the Committee held here today, Sub-Committee Coordinator Chhaya Sharma Panta suggested this, pointing out the need for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce for its implementation.
The Ministry has been implementing the UNDP-funded Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP) in 60 districts across the country.
The members of the Sub-Committee recently made an on-site visit in Myagdi, Parbat and Kaski where they felt the need for the establishment of Art Village to facilitate women's crafts and creations.
The Sub-Committee also recommended the Nepal Rastra Bank to provide subsidized loan to the women entrepreneurs to run small scale enterprises.
Submitting a report to the Committee following the on-site visit, Coordinator Panta argued that the small scale enterprises lacked promotion due to the unjust government policies such as the equal interest rate for both big and small enterprises.
The meeting also saw the clause-wise deliberation on the amendment bill to the Companies Act, 2063.
Committee Chair Bhismaraj Aangdambe spoke of the need for the government to enforce the directives issued by the Committee to protect consumers' rights.
