Rajbiraj (Saptari), March 11: Saptari shutdown enforced by the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) for the past five days has been withdrawn since this evening.
The UDMF called the district shutdown in protest of the killing of its five cadres on Monday. Five UDMF's cadres were killed in police firing after the UDMF cadres attempted to disrupt the mass gathering organised by the CPN (UML) at Basbiti VDC in Saptari under its Mechi-Mahakali Campaign.
According to the UDMF, it withdrew the district shutdown after the local administration agreed to address the demands including declaring the deceased as martyrs, compensation to the victim families and assuring government job to one of the members of the families of the deceased. RSS
